In 1977, Coach W.C. Gorden, along with Richard Porter, Robert Funches, James Garner, Ruben Hopkins, Ralph Burney, Charles Beard, A. A. Alexander, Edward Lipscomb and Alfred Porter, all staunch supporters of JSU, discussed strategic ways to raise funds for the Division of Athletics.

From these great minds The Blue Bengal Athletic Association was formed. The Blue Bengal Athletic Association (BBAA) Incorporated, still continues the rich tradition started over 40 years ago. BBAA has contributed over 1.2 MILLION dollars to JSU's Division of Athletics since 1977.

The Blue Bengal Athletic Association is a non-profit organization existing to help enhance, enrich and insure the continuous growth of all Jackson State University Athletic Programs, in accordance and compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and JSU rules and regulations.

The BBAA operates solely on revenues generated through membership, donations and fundraising activities.

All contributions to the BBAA are tax deductible.
